Description

Coping strips are a simple but critical part of installing an overlap pool liner. They hold the liner’s top edge firmly against the wall, preventing slipping while your pool fills and settling it in place before the top rails go on.

These strips are sized for above ground pools and work with standard overlap liners on a variety of wall heights.

Why You Need Coping Strips

Without proper coping:

  • Overlap liners can shift or sag

  • Wrinkles can form as the pool fills

  • Liner edges may not seat correctly under top rails

Coping strips create a uniform, secure grip so your liner stays positioned during and after installation.

Choose These Coping Strips If…

  • You’re installing a new overlap liner on an above ground pool

  • Your old coping strips are damaged, cracked, or missing

  • You want a cleaner, more stable installation

  • You want to reduce wrinkles and line shifts while the pool fills

How They Work

  1. Install an overlap liner over the pool wall

  2. Position the coping strips over the liner edge

  3. Snap on top rails to lock everything in place

The coping grips the liner snugly and distributes pressure evenly under the top rails. A good fit helps prevent liner creep as water is added.

Fit & Measurement Tips

Before ordering:

  • Confirm the pool diameter

  • Know your wall type and top rail configuration

  • Choose the coping strip length that matches your pool size

Coping strips are specifically sized to match standard overlap liner setups on pools. If you’re unsure, check your liner’s recommended installation method.

  • Recommend replacing coping with each liner change
  • 24” long
  • Non-corrosive plastic
  • Ensure firm, proper liner installation – protects from rips after installation
  • Extends the lifetime of liner
  • Sturdy, yet flexible
  • Can be cut to the desired length
  • Prevents water from getting behind the liner
  • For overlap liners
  • Flat-style coping

Common Questions

What’s the difference between coping strips and bead receivers?
Coping strips are used with overlap liners to secure the vinyl over the pool wall. Bead receivers are metal tracks for beaded liners that snap the liner in place. The two systems are not interchangeable.

Can I reuse old coping strips?
Sometimes, but if they’re cracked, bent, or brittle, replacing them ensures a better seal and smoother liner installation.

Why does coping matter?
Proper coping prevents liner movement as the pool fills with water — reducing wrinkles and helping the liner seat evenly.

Coping strips may seem small, but they make a big difference in how well your overlap liner stays in place. Choosing the right ones helps smooth installation and gives you a more reliable fit once your pool is filled.

FAQs

If you have questions about LinerWorld, our pool liners, or our other pool maintenance products and accessories, you’ve definitely come to the right place. We’ve put together some of the top questions we get, just to get you started. Not seeing what you need? Don’t hesitate to contact us!

  • How do I measure my swimming pool?

To get the measurements for your pool size, measure from inside wall to inside wall. To measure your pool’s depth, measure from the deepest point of the pool on the floor to the top of the inside of the pool wall. Don’t just measure the actual pool walls. It generally works best if you have two sets of hands. You can read more about measuring your pool here.

  • What is the difference between an overlap pool liner and a beaded pool liner?

Great question! Overlap pool liners go over the side of your pool wall and are held on by coping strips. Above ground beaded liners are fed into a bead receiver (which is installed on the inside of your pool wall). You can learn more about overlap and beaded pool liners here.

  • If I don’t see my pool size as an option for a liner, can I buy the next size up and use that? Will it fit properly?

No. Our pool liners are made to fit the exact measurement of your swimming pool. So, if your pool measures slightly under 27 feet, the 27-foot liners will not fit your pool properly. In this type of scenario, your best bet is to contact us and order a custom sized liner.

  • Do you have a warranty for your pool liners?

Yes. Our above ground pool liners come with a 25 year, prorated manufacturer’s warranty that covers manufacturer defects. We recommend all customers read through our warranty very carefully before purchase.

  • What is the shipping process?

At LinerWorld, we pride ourselves on our fast and free shipping. We offer free shipping on all of our swimming pool liners, products, and accessories. Orders placed by 3 PM (CST) typically ship same day and most customers receive their orders within 1-3 business days. Less waiting and more time enjoying your pool!

  • Do you have a return policy for your liners and pool accessories?

Yes. We do accept returns within 30 days of receiving your items. Some fees and restrictions may apply. Custom orders and pool liners that have been opened and unrolled are not returnable. Please be sure to read our full return policy for more details.

  • How do I install my new swimming pool liner?

We’re glad you asked! The installation process is definitely important. There are different ways you can install a swimming pool liner, but our liners are designed to be installed one specific way. Be sure to read our full installation guide and contact our team if you need extra assistance.

  • How do I open my above ground pool?

There’s no better time of year than when the weather warms up and it’s finally time to open your pool for the outdoor swimming season! We’ve put together a handy pool opening guide with easy-to-follow instructions to help you get your pool up and running quickly and efficiently.

  • How do I close my above ground pool?

While it’s always a bummer to say goodbye to the warm weather, closing your pool for the winter doesn’t have to be difficult. Check out our pool closing guide for a step-by-step process for winterizing your pool and some handy tips and tricks.

  • Do you sell J-Hook, U-Bead, or Unibead liners?

While we do not sell these specific liner types, we recommend purchasing a bead receiver along with one of our standard beaded pool liners as a superior alternative to J-Hook, U-Bead, or Unibead liners.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

LinerWorld proudly accepts all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
